Trauma-Informed Counseling

Trauma-Informed Counseling

If you have a history of trauma that you believe is impacting your mental health and relationship, it is worth to explore ways to address it in order to relieve its impact.

Within the real of trauma-informed care there is a form of treatment called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is a powerful therapeutic approach designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences. Through a structured process, EMDR facilitates the reprocessing of traumatic memories, enabling individuals to integrate these experiences into their broader life narrative in a more adaptive and manageable way. By engaging in bilateral stimulation, typically through eye movements, auditory tones, or tactile sensations, clients are guided to access and process distressing memories while simultaneously fostering bilateral brain activity.

EMDR offers a structured and evidence-based approach to trauma treatment, empowering individuals to reclaim their lives and move forward with renewed strength and resilience.

EMDR is one way that trauma can be addressed in the context of counseling. Together, we can assess your current situation and needs to determine if EMDR would be a good fit for you, if so there is a process of relationship/trust building that needs to take place first before starting with the structured part of treatment. If EMDR isn't of interest to you, we can still work together using traditional insight-oriented counseling to address the impact of trauma.
